Rabat – A man drove into a group of Muslims as they were leaving their mosque in the center of London, leaving one person dead and several people injured.
British authorities said they are treating the incident as a “potential terrorist attack.” The terrorist attack, which took place at Finsbury Park mosque, took place few minutes after midnight local time.
Eyewitnesses interviewed by CNN said the attack was “premeditated and deliberate.” The author of the attack was arrested immediately by London police. The 48-year-old author of the attack was detained by members of the public before he was taken into custody by the police.
“The driver of the van – a man aged 48 – was found detained by members of public at the scene and then arrested by police in connection with the incident,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.
According to London authorities, eight people were taken to the hospital as a result of the attack and two others were treated on the scene.
It took British authorities more than four hours to issue a statement on the nature of the attack.

Western media were very cautious to describe the attack as a terrorist one although all the details of the incidents and the testimonies of eyewitness pointed to that direction.
Both the long silence of the police and the cautious way in which the media treated the attack was in stark contradiction with the way the same media reports on attacks in which the perpetrators are Muslims.
London Mayor said the attack was a deliberate and described as “terrorist attack.”
